As students throughout LA head back to school, one school is entering into its second year with a $6.2 million cutting-edge science facility. Milken Community Schools, a top private school in Los Angeles (grades 7-12) is home to The Guerin Family Institute for Advanced Sciences, renovated in September 2016 as part of Milken’s on-going commitment to advancing STEM education and promoting innovative technologies.

The Guerin Institute houses the area’s only MIT-inspired Fab Lab, joining a global network of Fab Labs, including a CAD lab, engineering lab, and international classroom designed to connect students with global resources. Milken students have access to revolutionary equipment and professional grade industrial tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, milling machine, and programming tools that encourage hands-on exploration and invention. The facility also accommodates classes and special events, and students and faculty from all disciplines have utilized the tools, technology, and training available.

In addition to the Guerin Institute, which initially opened September 2016, Milken offers the Architecture and Design Institute boasting over 4,000 square feet of new and renovated design studio facilities.
