Not only has Shepherd Church been chosen the “BEST” place of worship for “Readers’ Choice 2014,” the 102-year-old independent, non-denominational, community Christian church believes in diversity. There are more than 60 different religious and sports programs, and a children’s ministry, featuring story times and live productions.
One of Shepherd’s local outreach programs, called the Blanket Blessings Ministry, distributes blankets to the homeless. Shepherd started out with 100 people in the boxcar of a train, and grew over the years into a congregation of over 10,000 people.
Pastor Dudley Rutherford has been giving sermons for over 25 years. “Our goal is that people feel welcome and comfortable walking into our church”, says Monica Williams, communications director. Shepherd Church offers services Sundays at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
