BEST PLACE TO WORK
Galpin Motors has been the world’s top-selling Ford dealer for 27 consecutive years and was voted the Best Place to Work in 2017 in the Daily News Readers’ Choice poll.
“We consider our employees to be our greatest asset, which I think most companies would acknowledge,” said Galpin Presidentand COO Beau Boeckmann. “But at Galpin we go off the example my father, CEO Bert Boeckmann, has set since day one – and he really, sincerely cares about every employee who works here, as do I and our leadership, and you could also call that love.”
Even though it can be a challenge to maintain relationships with over 1,400 employees, the Boeckmann family strongly believes in staying grounded and keeping in touch. Galpin as a company is committed to making the workplace a fun environment, and the perks of working at Galpin include paid vacations, benefits, company picnics and employee recognition awards.
“First of all, we sincerely care for our employees,” Beau explained. “We really try to empower our people: They know that if they do the right thing on behalf of our customers that we are going to support them for it. The core values of the company are integrity, a servant’s attitude, accountability, continuous improvement, teamwork and fun.”
“Within each franchise and store, we acknowledge every month or quarter our top 20 employees – and that’s not just in sales, it’s in service, it’s in parts, everywhere that we feel there’s a group that has done an exceptional job.
“We either take them out to lunch or dinner or to a fun activity. Every year, my dad and mom, Jane, host a top performers dinner at their home for those that have really excelled. We have regular contests and trips that our employees can win, and we also recognize those that have been with us a long time with an annual longevity luncheon.”
In addition, ‘Galpinvolvement,’ Galpin Motors’ community involvement program, makes a positive difference with its longstanding commitment to community service. “For example, this summer’s sale is called the Galpin 11,000 Sale, and our goal is to also do 11,000 hours of community service with our employees,” said Beau. “They are out there feeding the hungry and cleaning up areas and doing all kinds of physical work to improve our community. So I’m really proud of that.
“Every year, we work with the Fred Jordan Mission and have a big team of employees go down to Skid Row and hand out toys. We do collections for backpacks and try to help out with kids going back to school. In fact, every weekend this summer, we have held a community event where our employees have volunteered.”
Beau Boeckmann is indeed committed to continuing Bert Boeckmann’s longstanding dedication to both customers and community.
